Can You See Me? Do You Hear Me?

We are Canadians over 100,000 strong,

many quietly waiting in a line that’s long.

From 1-3 years, for a diagnosis,

of a disease yet to have a prognosis.

With no cure in sight,

we manage symptoms not the blight

with handfuls of meds, take them daily

to hide tremors, stutters, and stumbles barely.

Many people work on the solutions

to cure what ails us with our donations,

but few will ask us what we see

as a priority as we continue to be.

We need better access to the health care

and we know that resources are bare.

But we have ideas and the determination

to be part of the new solution.

We have a growing voice but need

a line of communication to plead

to be seen and heard by those

who’s plan they wish to impose.

Although our individual participation

may not be long before succession

by those behind us, they’re validation

will ensure our lasting consternation.

So, if the system won’t change

Can we bypass it, to rearrange

the authority within our community

taking back power through unity.

Can we do this without a Fox

like Terry or M.J in our box?

Or can Spinning Wheels be enough

to pedal our message beyond rebuff.
