No More… Stuff!

I sat back and thought, how old am I now?

With all the things bought and sold or still below

In the basement, she put them away.

I am not allowed there but maybe someday.

I wonder what happened to the skates I had.

Wood sole, leather straps with a metal blade.

Every March a party was had to celebrate

my birthday with skating on the pond

No matter now! No ice anymore!

No friends to respond to my Birthday invite.

But I had roller blades, skis, and neat stuff too.

Hockey gear and sticks and a bicycle painted blue

Surely my bat and ball with that old leather glove

Are they still down the hall? I will go to check!

But the door to the basement has not been found.

I asked for some help by pressing the button

The nurse came running into my chaos

as everything was on the floor, photos

and letters, but no toys to be had.

That made me sad as all my possessions

now in a desk drawer I keep.

But occasionally I will look

For what I thought I one day had

Only memories now, as I wait,

for them to fade, soon gone as well.
